Learn how to make handmade soap with simple ingredients and basic equipment that you already have in your kitchen! You’ll work in small groups of four to six to make batches of cold process soap from start to finish.

During the class we’ll cover:

  • Safety gear and precautions

  • Basic cold process chemistry

  • Ingredient selection and storage

  • How to create your own recipes

  • How to cut, cure and store soaps

  • And more!

You’ll receive a reference booklet with step-by-step instructions and one bar of cured soap to take home.

Please wear closed toe shoes and bring a long-sleeved shirt to wear while we work with the lye solution. If you have a pair of safety goggles and gloves that you would like to use, bring those along, too. There will be extra goggles and gloves available to borrow if you don’t have your own.

BONUS: Bring an empty, clean plastic HDPE 1 or 2 container + lid (like a medium/large yogurt or cottage cheese container) to take a sample of the batch you make in class!
